Barbacoa Sauce Recipe

Egg Wash Recipe
SERVING SIZE: 1/2 Cup

Barbacoa Empanada
Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2: Place dough round on work surface.
Step 3: Using heaping tablespoon measure, spoon barbacoa pot roast, fire roasted corn and cotija cheese onto center of dough round.
Step 4: Using pastry brush, paint edges of dough with egg wash.
Step 5: Fold dough into half-moon shape; gently press down edges and twist down to seal.
Step 6: Repeat with remaining ingredients.
Step 7: Place empanadas on a parchment lined sheet pan, leaving 1½” space between each empanada.
Step 8: Brush tops of empanadas with remaining egg wash.
Step 9: Cook until pastries puff, turn golden brown and filling is hot, about 20 minutes.
Step 10: Remove from oven.
Step 11: Serve as needed.
Barbacoa Recipe
Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2: Place Hillshire Farm® USDA Choice Beef Pot Roast onto a clean worksurface.
Step 3: Remove Hillshire Farm® USDA Choice Beef Pot Roast from package.
Step 4: Place Hillshire Farm® USDA Choice Beef Pot Roast into a hotel pan.
Step 5: Cover entire hotel pan with foil.
Step 6: Place in oven for 35 - 40 minutes.
Step 7: Remove Hillshire Farm® USDA Choice Beef Pot Roast from oven.
Step 8: Remove foil from hotel pan and shred/pull meat to desired consistency.
Step 9: Pour barbacoa sauce over the entire Hillshire Farm® USDA Choice Beef Pot Roast.
Step 10: Gently fold all ingredients together and place back into the oven for approximately 10 minutes.
Step 11: Remove from oven.
Step 12: Use as needed.
Barbacoa Sauce Recipe
Step 1: Remove the stems from the guajillo and ancho peppers and remove the seeds.
Step 2: Place the dried chiles in a large bowl and cover with very hot or boiling water.
Step 3: Soak them for 15 minutes, or until they become very soft and rehydrate.
Step 4: Drain and discard the water.
Step 5: Add all ingredients to a food processor and process until smooth.
Step 6: Remove from food processor and use as needed.
Egg Wash Recipe
Step 1: Place egg and heavy cream in a small bowl.
Step 2: Whisk with a fork until well combined and frothy.
Step 3: Use as needed.
Preparation - Hillshire Farm® USDA Choice Beef Pot Roast
Bake: Conventional Oven Remove from package. Cover with foil and bake 325°F, 35 - 40 minutes if thawed.
Boil: Boil Place package in boiling water for 16 - 20 minutes if thawed; 25 - 30 minutes if frozen.
Microwave: Microwave Oven Vent package using knife to create 2 1/2" slits and place in microwave safe dish. Microwave 3 - 5 minutes, if thawed.
Thaw: Thawing Instructions Remove from case and place pot roast in 1 layer. Thaw 24 hours in refrigerator.
