Steak Carbonara Mac & Cheese Recipe

For the Mac and Cheese lovers who fancy a tasty protein add-on, this Steak Carbonara Mac takes things up a few notches. Sliced steak adds a flavorful bite to the soft, creamy bed of noodles on which it rests. Green peas and a garlicky paprika seasoning brings the experience up even further.

Ingredients

8 oz.The Original Steak-EZE® BreakAway® Beef Steak, Lightly Marinated, 4 oz
BoxElbow macaroni
6 tsp.Butter
1 Ea.Yellow onion, diced
1 tsp.Paprika
1 tsp.Garlic powder
4 tsp.Flour
1 1/2 CupsWhole Milk
1 1/2 CupsShredded cheddar
1 CupParmesan
1/2 CupFrozen peas, thawed

 

 

Directions

Step 1: Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook pasta to al dente, according to package directions.

Step 3: Grease a 9x13 oven-proof dish.

Step 4: Melt 1 tablespoon of olive oil into a medium pan.

Step 5: Add the steak to the pan, searing each side for about a minute. then break it apart with a spatula or wooden spoon until fully cooked.

Step 6: Remove from heat.

Step 5: Melt butter in a heavy-bottomed Dutch oven and cook onion until translucent, seasoning with salt, paprika and garlic powder.

Step 6: Add flour to coat, then whisk in milk and let simmer until mixture is reduced and slightly thick, about 8 minutes.

Step 7: Add in pasta, peas, steak and all the cheese except ½ cup of mozzarella.

Step 8: Transfer mixture to the 9x13 oven proof dish and top with the remaining cheese.

Step 9: Cook for 20 minutes until nice and creamy then broil an additional 5 minutes.
