Sweet & Spicy Mango-Jerk Burger Recipe

Juicy beef burger served on a whole grain bun with a zesty Jamaican-inspired Jerk coleslaw and topped with a sweet mango chutney sauce.

Whole Wheat Bun

 

"Mango Chutney"

4 cups

Mango, frozen cubed, Simplot

1 cup

White Onion, small dice

½ cup

Jalapeno, small dice

1 cup

Red Bell Pepper, small dice

1 Tbsp.

Garlic, granulated

1 Tbsp.

Ginger, powdered

1 tsp.

Cinnamon, powdered

1 tsp.

Brown Sugar

¼ cup

Water

¼ cup

Apple Cider Vinegar

 

“Jerk Slaw”

16 oz.

Slaw Mix

2 oz.

Mayonnaise

2 oz.

Jerk Sauce, prepared

1 oz.

Lime Juice

 

Directions

Step 1 - Preheat convection oven to 350°F. On a parchment lined sheet tray, lay burger patties flat in a single layer and cook from frozen. Bake for 11-12 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Hold hot for hot service

Step 2 - Mango Chutney – Combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pot. Bring to a simmer over low heat while stirring frequently to keep from sticking. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, the sauce should look syrupy when finished. Remove from heat and cover to let cool and hold cold for service.

Step 3 - Jerk Slaw – Thoroughly mix the slaw mix, mayonnaise, jerk sauce, lime juice. Cover and hold cold for service.

 

To serve:

  1. Open buns on prep surface and place ¼ cup of the Jerk Slaw mix on the bottom bun
  2. Place 1 hot burger patty on top of slaw.
  3. Smear 1 tablespoon of chutney on top bun.
  4. Top off burger patty with top bun and serve
