Meet Our 2025 Great Pizza Give Back Grand Prize Winner

Wild West Pizza, Lompoc, CA

The team at Wild West Pizza is serving more than great food. They’re serving their community.

Wild West Pizza isn’t your average pizzeria: it’s a bold, flavor-forward tribute to creativity and community.

Located in the heart of Lompoc, California, this one-of-a-kind eatery captures the spirit of the city’s cowboy heritage with rustic Western decor, vintage photos and authentic artifacts.

But what truly sets Wild West Pizza apart is its fearless approach to pizza. Featuring boundary-pushing flavor combinations like the “Smoke Signals & Sweet Talk” (raspberry chipotle cream cheese, cheddar and mozzarella, smoked brisket, roasted jalapeños and red onions with raspberry chipotle BBQ sauce drizzle and fresh cilantro) and the “Divine Swine” (pulled pork, BBQ sauce, roasted red peppers, green peppers, red onions and pineapple), innovation is baked into every bite.

Guided by the belief that small acts can make a big difference, Wild West Pizza is deeply committed to giving back. This makes it not just a place to eat, but a pillar of the community.

“At Wild West, giving back isn’t a strategy, it’s who we are.”

—David Goldy, Owner, Wild West Pizza

From partnering with the local police on a Positive Ticketing Program that rewards good deeds with free pizza, to launching the Be Nice for a Slice anti-bullying campaign in local schools, David and his team aim to recognize and encourage kindness and leadership.

They sponsor Brave of the Quarter and Conquistador of the Quarter awards at the local high schools, providing lunch for students, families and staff. And each year on 9/11, they honor first responders by donating dinner to all local firehouses and the nearby military base.

The pizzeria also supports a community bike park in Lompoc by delivering free pizzas to volunteers once a month during their cleanup day.

In times of need, they step up. During the federal shutdown, Wild West Pizza fed unpaid penitentiary staff. During COVID, they provided 25 kids’ meals daily and matched donations to support essential workers through their Heroes Fund, distributing over $1,200 in pizza. Their Hometown Heroes program celebrates individuals making a difference every day.

Wild West Pizza’s vast community efforts have earned them recognition, including Small Business of the Year, the city’s Economic Vitality Award and the Community Partner of the Year from the Air Force Association. Most recently, David was named Honorary Commander of the USAF 576th Flight Test Squadron and received the Base Commander’s Community Service Award.

With the prize money, David plans to expand on the pizzeria’s Be Nice For a Slice anti-bullying program.

They will invest in developing a dedicated website that will serve as a resource for educators. This resource will provide anti-bullying curriculum materials, classroom tools and success stories that inspire kindness and inclusion among students. They also will use the funds to expand programs that build stronger bridges between the military and civilian communities.

Congratulations to David and the entire team at Wild West Pizza. Thank you for your charitable spirit!
