Restaurateurs are always searching for the next “big thing” that will help drive traffic and boost profit. Whether it’s an LTO, a seasonal special or a fresh take on a seasonal favorite, there’s always pressure to differentiate. But smart operators know that when it comes to customers, innovation is nothing without consistency.
According to The Value Equation Hotshot Report from Datassential in November 2025, 72% of consumers said they had become more selective about where they spend their money on food—a mindset that continues to shape dining decisions today. That puts greater pressure on operators to deliver consistent quality and execution at every touchpoint, as well as maximizing ingredient utilization and simplifying back-of-house operations.
It might seem counterintuitive, but consistency and creativity are not mutually exclusive. In fact, the opposite is true: when ingredients perform the same way every shift, chefs can innovate with confidence. It frees them up to experiment with new flavors, presentations and preparations without worrying about basic execution problems.
"We believe that consistency—of flavor, texture and performance—is non-negotiable for our Tyson Red Label brand," says Kylee Francis, Senior Manager of Innovation for Foodservice Value-Added Poultry at Tyson Foods. "By promising consistency for operators, they know they can count on our items to perform. Because our portfolio is consistently high quality, great tasting and quick to prepare, operators can have more time to focus on developing LTOs or menu specials for their establishment and feel empowered to create confidently with our branded portfolio, every day."
Consistency is especially valuable when developing LTOs or menu specials. The pressure to flawlessly execute new menu items while maintaining speed of service can make or break an LTO's success. When base ingredients are reliable, employees can focus their energy and resources on the creative elements that will set a dish—and a restaurant—apart. The proof lies in the creative applications operators have discovered when they trust their foundational ingredients.
“Nothing is more exciting than seeing our customers leveraging our products to help bring their creativity to life on menus,” Francis says. “A couple of our favorites: glazed chicken tenderloins on a skewer to create a 'Walkabout Chicken' hands-free eating experience at an amusement park, or a trendy tower of chicken tenderloins and fries served as a new take on a shareable plate.”
The philosophy of creativity and innovation through consistency is central to the Tyson Red Label® brand. Tyson Foods’ Proprietary Brand Health Study from February 2026 revealed that 92% of operators surveyed agree that Tyson Red Label® brand has products that are more consistent than top Foodservice poultry competitors.
This level of consistency doesn't happen by accident. Behind every reliable product is rigorous testing and quality control. Products are tested for aroma, flavor, juiciness and how well they hold during delivery of up to 30 minutes.
Expert sensory research and development teams help maintain product quality and consistency throughout flavors, forms and value tiers to ensure every product delivers on the brand promise in every usage occasion. The testing continues throughout the product lifecycle, with quality standards that go beyond basic food safety requirements. "These strict product-testing standards and proven performance create a strong reputation and confidence with operators that Tyson Red Label products are reliable," says Emma Huett, Senior Manager of Foodservice Value-Added Poultry Category Management at Tyson Foodservice.

This commitment to consistency extends across an extensive product range designed to maximize ingredient utilization across dayparts. Breaded options like Tyson Red Label® Authentically Crispy Chicken can be used to create sandwiches, chicken strip baskets, salads and more. Unbreaded choices—including Tyson Red Label® Fajita Seasoned Chicken—can be used in breakfast burritos, lunch wraps and late-night quesadillas. And Tyson Red Label® Wood Fire Seasoned Chicken offers authentic, bold flavors that pair with bold BBQ sauces and spicy glazes.
The product line can even help transform familiar ingredients into premium experiences; one restaurant introduced an upscale take on an everyday item with a dish called Golden Chicken and Caviar that featured Tyson Red Label® Uncooked Tempura Battered Chicken Breast Nuggets.
Consistency brings operational benefits as well, particularly in terms of labor and efficiency challenges. Fully cooked products help save precious prep time while maintaining food safety standards. Tyson Red Label® Authentically Crispy Fully Cooked Bone-In Wings in Original and Spicy exemplify this approach, delivering exceptionally crispy, flavorful results that require minimal back-of-house handling. This allows chefs to focus their creativity on signature sauces, unique preparations or innovative presentations rather than worrying about cooking techniques and food safety protocols.
This efficiency becomes increasingly valuable as labor shortages persist across the industry. According to the November 2025 study, The Value Equation Hotshot Report from Datassential, more than 80% of consumers said that good service and a positive experience made a meal feel like a better value, highlighting the role of consistency in delivering on expectations.

"The brand is built around creating efficiency for operators and having products that can truly be an operator’s workhorse back of house. Our culinary team works hard to provide menu inspiration with all forms of chicken to encourage ingredient maximization and demonstrate how truly versatile Tyson Red Label products are across an operator’s entire menu," Francis says.
For operators evaluating their protein strategy, consistency becomes a crucial factor in total cost of ownership. Beyond initial product price, inconsistent ingredients can create hidden costs: increased waste from failed batches, additional labor for quality control, customer complaints from inconsistent experiences and lost revenue from items that can't be executed reliably during peak periods.
The Tyson Red Label® brand’s tiered pricing structure offers three value levels—premium whole muscle products, select cut made with whole muscle breast portions and value tier chopped and formed options. This approach to maximizing ingredients helps support both cost control and diverse operational requirements. For example, an operator might choose uncooked Tyson Red Label® Homestyle Chicken Tenderloins at the premium tier, Tyson Red Label® Homestyle Select Cut Chicken Tenders at the select cut level, or Tyson Red Label® Homestyle Formed Chicken Tenders as a value option—all offering a consistent flavor profile while meeting different pricing and menu needs.
“Just as consumers have varying budgets and quality expectations, so do our foodservice operators," Francis says. "We innovate to help solve pain points and add value for operators while meeting the ever-changing needs of consumers. This means innovating for all price points and value tiers to ensure that we have a diverse product offering that our customers can rely on for their menu and consumers come back for."
- Kylee Francis, Senior Manager of Innovation for Foodservice Value-Added Poultry
Innovation will always be essential for staying competitive and engaging customers. But the most successful innovations are built on a foundation of brand trust. When consistency is guaranteed, creativity flourishes. When performance is predictable, innovation becomes less risky and more profitable.
"Consistency and creativity go hand in hand," Huett says. "Our customers depend on the consistency of our product as the building block to bring creativity to life on their menu. While a chef strives for efficiency and ease back of house, protein is the foundation they can count on to be consistent every time as they dream up new ideas for their customers."
