Shakshuka Flatbread

Enhance your tastebuds with this unique North African style dish. Add bold and flavorful sausage crumbles paired with an authentic and savory Shakshuka style tomato sauce, green peppers, onions, light shredded Manchego cheese, and garnished with parsley.



Shakshuka Flatbread Ingredients

4 oz.Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Pork Sausage Patties, crumbled
1 ea.Flatbread Crust
2 oz.Shakshuka Sauce (see sub-recipe)
2 oz.Onions, thinly sliced 
3 oz.Manchego Cheese, shredded 
garnishParsley, flat leaf, rough chopped


Shakshuka Sauce Ingredients

2 oz. Olive Oil 
1 ea. Yellow Onion, medium, diced, ¼”  
1 ea. Red Bell Pepper, seeded and diced ¼”  
4 ea. Garlic Cloves, fresh, minced or micro-planed 
1 Tbsp. Paprika (regular, smoked, or spicy) 
2 tsp. Cumin 
½ tsp. Chile powder 
½ tsp. Ginger, ground 
1/8 tsp. Cinnamon 
1/8 tsp. Fire Roasted Diced Tomato, canned 
To taste Salt and Pepper  
¼ C Fresh Cilantro, chopped 
¼ C Fresh Parsley, chopped 
  1. Place the shakshuka sauce on the flatbread crust followed by the manchego cheese, onions, peppers, and chorizo crumbles.
  2. Convection Oven - Preheat oven to 375°F and cook until flatbread is bubbly and golden.
  3. Once flatbread is out of the oven garnish with parsley.

DIRECTIONS for Shakshuka Sauce:  

  1. In a large pan, sauté the peppers and onions with olive oil until translucent.
  2. Add garlic and spices and cook an additional minute.
  3. Pour tomatoes and liquid into the pan.  Season with salt and pepper and bring the sauce to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat, stir in the cilantro and parsley, hold warm and covered.
