Join us for World Food Day – an annual celebration meant to promote awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all. We at Tyson Foodservice are deeply committed to relieving hunger and lending a helping hand to communities affected by food insecurity.
How large is the food insecurity problem? Hunger-relief organization Feeding America says 42 million people may experience food insecurity in 2021*.
Tyson Foods is tackling the issue on many levels. We’re especially grateful to help provide protein-centric, center-of-plate foods like chicken and beef to help ensure those in need can access proper nutrition. Among recent efforts were donations, grants, a community pantry initiative, hunger relief partnerships and more, such as:
$1.5 Million to Support Hunger Relief in 38 Communities
Tyson Foods provided $1.5 million in grants to support hunger relief in 38 Tyson plant communities with funding spread among 26 hunger relief organizations in 15 states. Grants funded backpack programs, mobile food pantries and other programs to address hunger insecurity. Last year’s mobile pantry in Northwest Arkansas (pictured) distributed more than 300,000 pounds of food to those in need.
Alliance to Defeat Hunger
Over the summer, Tyson Foods joined Feed the Children and Americold to launch an “Alliance to Defeat Hunger” with a 10-city tour across the United States to help feed families in rural communities – supplementing nearly two million meals to families experiencing food insecurity.
We know foodservice operators have committed time and effort to helping feed their communities well, from highlighting healthy foods on menus to reducing food waste and more. We applaud you! At Tyson Foodservice, we too are committed to doing our part and hope you’ll continue to join us as we fight hunger.
Join us on October 16 by using hashtag #WorldFoodDay and help bring awareness and action to the fight against food insecurity.
