Traditional Parm with Plant Based Filets Recipe

This is a quintessential Italian favorite. Tyson® Plant Based Filets are deep fried and then topped with a hearty tomato sauce, melted mozzarella cheese and aromatic herbs. The final touch is a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese for a dish that’s inspired by Italian flavors.

8 ea.Tyson® Plant Based Filets
8 oz.Vermicelli Pasta
1 Tbsp.Vegetable Oil
3Garlic Cloves, Minced
1 CupOnion, Diced
4Roma Tomatoes, Seeded, Chopped
15 oz.Diced Tomatoes, Canned, with Juice
16 oz.Tomato Sauce
2 Tbsp.Tomato Paste
1 1/2 tsp.Salt
1/2 tsp.Pepper
1/4 CupBasil, Fresh
8 oz.Mozzarella Cheese, Fresh, Sliced
8 Tbsp.Parmesan Cheese, Shredded
Directions

Step 1 -  To prepare Tyson® Plant Based Filets, preheat cooking oil to 350°. From frozen, place filets in a fryer basket, submerge in oil, and shake basket. Cook the product for 3.5 minutes until product reaches at least 140° internal temperature. Remove from oil and set aside.

Step 2. Prepare pasta according to package directions.

Step 3 - While filets and pasta are cooking, prepare basil tomato sauce: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté garlic and onion for 5 minutes. Add Roma tomatoes and heat for an additional 5 minutes. Stir in canned diced tomatoes and tomato sauce; bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low and stir in tomato paste, salt, pepper, and basil; continue to heat for 10 minutes.

Step 4 - Place 1 slice of mozzarella cheese on each filet and cover with ¼ cup of the basil tomato sauce. Set the topped filet in a broiler and heat for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Serve over prepared pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
